Romero signed a minor-league contract with the Dodgers on Saturday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
Romero spent the past five seasons in Japan and hit 96 home runs during his time in Nippon Professional Baseball. The 33-year-old hasn't appeared in the majors since 2016 but will be invited to major-league spring training in 2022 and could be an option to serve as a designated hitter for the Dodgers, assuming the universal DH is approved as part of the ongoing labor negotiations.
