Luis Torrens: Elects free agency

Torrens elected to become a free agent Friday.

Torrens was pushed off the Mariners' 40-man roster Tuesday and opted to reject an outright assignment to Triple-A Tacoma. He's a career .227/.289/.354 hitter in 807 major-league plate appearances, but the 27-year-old could get a look as catching depth with some other organization.
