Mariners' Jantzen Witte: Latches on with Mariners

Witte has agreed to a minor-league contract with the Mariners.

Witte was never able to crack Boston's major-league roster despite being a member of the organization since 2013. The 31-year-old has succeeded at times in the minors, including a 2019 season in which he slashed 277/.339/.394 while playing multiple positions at Triple-A Pawtucket. He likely faces an uphill battle towards cracking the Mariners' Opening Day roster, however.
