Marlins' Devin Smeltzer: Loses 40-man roster spot

Smeltzer was designated for assignment Friday, Noah Berger of Fish on First reports.

Smeltzer worked 3.2 innings out of the bullpen in Thursday's loss to the Dodgers, so he's being swapped out in favor of a fresh arm. The left-hander has already been outrighted several times this season, so odds are he'll clear waivers again and remain in the organization.
