Matt Gage: Elects free agency

Gage elected to become a free agent Tuesday, Jon Heyman of the New York Post reports.

Gage had been booted off the Tigers' 40-man roster and has decided to pursue an opportunity elsewhere rather than accept an outright assignment. The southpaw reliever spun 5.2 scoreless innings over six relief appearances during his time with the Tigers.
