Mets' Wilfredo Tovar: Designated for assignment

Tovar was designated for assignment by the Mets on Tuesday.

Tovar appeared in just six games for New York, recording two hits and an RBI across 12 plate appearances. With the Mets claiming Travis Blankenhorn from Seattle on Tuesday, there simply wasn't any space for Tovar on the 26-man roster.
