Padres' Webster Rivas: Called up by Padres

Rivas' contract was selected by the Padres on Friday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Rivas has been in the minors for 11 seasons, but he'll make his major-league debut behind the plate Friday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports. Austin Nola (knee) was placed on the injured list as part of a corresponding move. Rivas should mainly serve as a depth option at catcher behind Victor Caratini while Nola is sidelined.
