Rangers' Chi Chi Gonzalez: Expected to make another start
Manager Jeff Banister said Sunday that Gonzalez is expected to make another start Thursday against the Twins, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.
Gonzalez's hold on a rotation spot appeared tenuous after he failed to get out of the first inning during Saturday's loss to the Twins, giving up four runs (one earned) on two hits and two walks while recording only two outs. Some poor defense from his mates contributed to Gonzalez's demise, so the Rangers will give him another shot against those same Twins to prove that his last outing was just a fluke. While better results can probably be expected a second time around, Gonzalez doesn't profile as an especially appealing fantasy option given his lack of swing-and-miss stuff. He accrued a 3.90 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 30:32 K:BB ratio over 67 innings at Triple-A Round Rock prior to his promotion to the big leagues.
