Tigers' Kerry Carpenter: Activated from IL, batting second

The Tigers activated Carpenter (back) from the 60-day injured list Tuesday.

Carpenter is starting at designated hitter and batting second for the Tigers on Tuesday versus the Mariners after missing nearly three months of action with a lumbar spine stress fracture. The 26-year-old put up a .914 OPS with eight home runs in 50 games earlier this season for the Tigers before the injury.
