Beavers is not in the lineup for Thursday's opener against the Twins.

Beavers managed to avoid the injured list after being sidelined for the past week with tightness in his right knee and quadriceps. However, the left-handed batter is not in the lineup Opening Day versus righty Joe Ryan, as Orioles manager Craig Albernaz is going with righty bat Tyler O'Neill. It's not a surprise, as Beavers could be a bit rusty and O'Neill also has a major-league record six-game Opening Day home run streak on the line. Beavers and O'Neill are expected to share right field for Baltimore this season rather than operate in a strict platoon.

Pereira (illness) will start in right field and bat seventh Thursday against the Brewers, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.

Pereira sat out the final game of the White Sox's Cactus League schedule with an illness, but he's now fully healthy and will officially claim a spot in Chicago's Opening Day outfield alongside Austin Hays and Luisangel Acuna.

The Orioles reassigned Wilson to Triple-A Norfolk on Wednesday, Andy Kostka of TheBaltimoreBanner.com reports.

While attending camp as a non-roster invitee, Wilson had been in the mix for a bench role on the Orioles' Opening Day squad but ultimately lost out in the job battle to Jeremiah Jackson. Wilson, who is in his first season in the Orioles organization, slashed .198/.282/.369 with five home runs and two stolen bases across 125 plate appearances in the big leagues with Philadelphia in 2025.

Canha told the Rangers on Wednesday that he will remain with the organization for the time being, despite not winning a spot on the Opening Day roster, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

After he was unable to beat out Andrew McCutchen for a spot on the Opening Day squad as a reserve corner outfielder/designated hitter, Canha initially informed the Rangers that he didn't plan on reporting to Triple-A Round Rock. However, after evaluating his options, Canha appears to have had a change of heart and will stick around in the organization, at least temporarily. It's unclear if he intends to head to Round Rock when the Triple-A season gets underway Friday, or if he'll simply remain at extended spring training in Arizona.

The Blue Jays placed Santander (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

Santander underwent surgery to repair the labrum in his left shoulder in February. He has a chance to return at some point after the All-Star break, but it's possible the Blue Jays wind up holding him back until next season.

The Astros optioned Cole to Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday.

Over the final two and a half weeks of the 2025 season, Cole turned some heads by producing a .255/.327/.553 slash line in his first taste of the big leagues, though it came with a bloated 38.5 percent strikeout rate. After Cole continued to strike out at a 40 percent clip during the Grapefruit League and was unable to provide enough power (.200 ISO) to compensate for it, the Astros will elect to send the 25-year-old back to Triple-A for further refinement. Houston will carry Brice Matthews on its Opening Day roster as a fourth outfielder and backup infielder.

Beavers (knee) said that he was able to turn in a full on-field workout Tuesday and feels ready to go for Thursday's season opener versus the Twins, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Beavers didn't see game action in spring training after experiencing some tightness in his right knee and quadriceps while running last Friday, but the Orioles evidently feel comfortable enough with his health after announcing Wednesday that the 24-year-old outfielder will be part of their 26-man active roster for Opening Day. As a left-handed hitter, Beavers should play at least semi-regularly against right-handed pitching, but he may be deployed in more of a timeshare rather than in the strong side of a platoon after Tyler O'Neill and Samuel Basallo both made strong cases for everyday roles with standout springs.

The Guardians designated Rodriguez for assignment Wednesday.

Rodriguez was optioned to Triple-A Columbus in mid-March and has now been removed from the 40-man roster. The 26-year-old played in 31 games during the 2025 regular season and struggled to a .197/.260/.366 slash line in 77 plate appearances.

The Guardians placed Valera (calf) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday.

The 25-year-old is beginning the season on the injured list due to a calf strain he suffered in early March. Valera was cleared for game action late in spring training, so he could begin a rehab assignment in short order.

The Rangers designated Blanco for assignment Wednesday.

Blanco was sent to minors camp by the Rangers immediately after being claimed off waivers in early March. The speedy outfielder is now set to go through the waivers process again.
