The beginning of the Masters is always a special time. Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer and Gary Player tee it up and Masters Chairman Billy Payne opens the gates to golf heaven.
Here's a look at how that played out on Thursday morning:

Nicklaus and Player look like they could still go a little bit. Palmer duck-hooked his drive, but really, who cares? Nicklaus did say the Par 3 Contest on Wednesday "damn near killed me."
He and Player looked pretty spry, if you ask me.

Thursday's ceremonial tee shot had been in question for a while for Palmer. He was nursing a bum shoulder, but he made it clear on Thursday that he wasn't going to miss the festivities.
Until next year, guys.
