Catcher A.J. Pierzynski provided the only beacon of light in a night of darkness for the Cardinals in Baltimore on Friday night.
The veteran cranked out a two-run homer in the seventh inning, his first blast since May 24, to kill the shutout hopes for Orioles right-hander Chris Tillman. He is 10 for 32 since arriving in St. Louis.
