Jason Motte hoping to be ready by spring training

Cardinals closer Jason Motte, who underwent Tommy John Surgery Tuesday, said he hopes to be near 100 percent by the start of spring training. Motte is scheduled to be in a cast for the next two weeks before being fitted for a brace.

"I know this is not going to be easy," Motte said. "...But there's nothing I can do about it now but look forward."
