This spring, the Dodgers will be wearing Tom Selleck's hat
It all goes back to the movie 'Mr. Baseball.'
Not so long ago in these august electric pages, we gave you a walking tour of each team's new spring training ensemble. That brings us to this, which is the Dodgers' rather very fetching spring alternate hat ...

Excelsior! And now for a world-championship observation from C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer ...
I can’t be the only one thinking this, right? pic.twitter.com/UDb3LocSjz

On the left is Joc Pederson modelling the lid seen above, and on the right is Tom Selleck as he appeared in the 1992 Fred Schepisi tour de force Mr. Baseball.
In the movie, Mr. Selleck, an Occidental by birth and inclination, wound up as a member of the Chunichi Dragons of Japan's Central League. Cultures clashed, and madcappery resulted. Anyhow, as the following action-sports lapel pin will demonstrate, the Dragons have a bit of a Dodgersian look to their font ...

Dragons!
The point is that the Dodgers are trying to look like Tom Selleck, and no one can blame them for that.
(h/t: FTW!)
