Padres pitcher Tim Stauffer was awarded a win Monday despite giving up one earned run on two hits in one inning of action and striking out one in his team's 6-5, 12-inning win over the Royals.
Stauffer (1-0) had managed to string together eight scoreless innings over five appearances going into Monday's game before giving up his first earned run since April 12. However, his team was able to deliver him his first win of the season with a two-run walkoff single. He owns a 2.45 ERA and 14:7 K:BB ratio in 14 2/3 innings.
