WESTBROOK TAKES A BITE OUT OF THE BIG APPLE : Russell Westbrook with his game (3s and dunks), the cockiness, the swagger, the emotion, was pretty much custom made for the All-Star Game. He's basically what would happen if a 3-D Printer made an All-Star player. Westbrook went nuts in the first half, going off for 27 points in less than 12 minutes, finishing with 41 points on 28 shots. Westbrook was a speed demon, and was clearly gunning for the MVP. It was an explosive performance and a great showcase of what the NBA's Mad Max can do.

OH HEY, LEBRON'S STILL GOOD : LeBron James might have won another NBA All-Star MVP trophy if the East had won, with 30 points, five rebounds, seven assists, and two steals. He also did this:

KORVER AND THE ALL-STAR HOT SAUCE : Kyle Korver was en fuego for a while, but couldn't sustain in the second half. He had an outside chance at stealing MVP if he'd been able to knock down the number of open looks he had. The Hawks acquitted themselves well, and, appropriately...

HAWKS VOLTRON : The Hawks played best when they were together, sharing the ball and making plays. Jeff Teague showed some razzle dazzle, and Paul Millsap missed a dunk but came back with a sweet behind the back pass to Horford for a dunk, and Horford hit a buzzer-beater alley-oop. Nice to see them get time. (For more on the Hawks...)

CARMELANCHOLY ANTHONY : So ... not a GREAT night for New York's favorite son. 6-of-20 ... (WOW) ... 14 points, most of them on short putbacks. Anthony is clearly shutting it down, clearly not well, and clearly disappointed with his performance. Just a rough year, considering that Anthony held off surgery to play in this game. Much like New York itself, Anthony was frozen this weekend.

NEW  YORK AS THE HOST CITY : It was zero degrees on the walk to Madison Square Garden, but at least according to Weather.com it "felt" like minus-8 which is not correct, as it felt like the coldest that anything has ever been, ever. It's a big city and I'm sure the league made a bunch of money, and that's great. But after Toronto next year, the league should never go above the Carolinas in longitude.

THERE ARE NO WORDS FOR HOW AWESOME THIS IS.

CHRIS BOSH, ULTIMATE TEAMMATE : Chris Bosh played almost not at all, but he consistently clapped during every made bucket for the East, high-fived everyone, and generally was Mr. Feel Good. Bosh played 11 minutes, but he was the perfect guy to just have around, not taking anything too serious and helping make everyone in a better mood.

P.DIDDY'S COAT : Dude was halfway to being "Birdman."
