LeBron James gets hyped watching 2000 Western Conference Finals
Cleveland Cavaliers superstar LeBron James had fun watching NBA TV.
LeBron James loves watching old NBA games, just like you and me. Unlike you and me, though, the Cleveland Cavaliers superstar can film himself watching NBA TV raving about what he's seeing, and lots of people will care about what he has to say.
"I can't control myself," James said excitedly in his latest Bleacher Report Uninterrupted video. He was watching the 2000 Western Conference Finals, where the eventual-champion Los Angeles Lakers met the Portland Trail Blazers. The Lakers had Brian Shaw, Kobe Bryant, Glen Rice, Robert Horry and Shaquille O'Neal on the court at that particular moment. The Blazers had a lineup of Scottie Pippen, Steve Smith, Detlef Schrempf, Rasheed Wallace and Arvydas Sabonis.
"I'm hyped because I wish I played in the Western Conference right then and there, man," James said. "This is top-of-the-line ball-playing."
That series was indeed great. The Lakers had two of the top players in the league, and the Blazers might have had the deepest roster. It looked like the Los Angeles had it won when they went up 3-1, but Portland evened the series and had a 15-point lead early in the fourth quarter of Game 7. That's when the Lakers pulled off one of the greatest comebacks in playoff history, then won three straight championships. The more James talked about it, the more pumped up he appeared to be.
"This is true basketball right here, man," James said. "Wow. This game is crazy. This is crazy, man. It'll make you forget -- like if you don't know the history of the game, man, you will forget how many great teams didn't win championships. That doesn't mean they wasn't great, though. It's just unbelievable, man."
Maybe next time he'll react to one of his own games -- I wonder if NBA TV ever plays that Cavs-Celtics series from 2010. Too soon?
