Trail Blazers' Scoot Henderson: Pops for 15 points off bench in opener
Henderson provided 15 points (7-14 FG, 1-6 3Pt), two rebounds, one assist and one steal in 19 minutes off the bench during Wednesday's 124-83 victory over the Suns.
While all five Portland starters scored in double digits during the rout, Henderson was the only member of the second unit to deliver 10-plus points. The fourth-year guard is firmly behind Damian Lillard and Ja Morant on the backcourt depth chart to begin the season and is working off the bench with Jrue Holiday, but after a strong training camp and preseason, Henderson could be poised to thrive in that role.

Trail Blazers' Scoot Henderson: Chips in 17 points off bench
Henderson logged 17 points (7-16 FG, 1-8 3Pt, 2-3 FT), two assists, one rebound, one steal and one block over 19 minutes during Portland's 128-118 preseason loss to Golden STate.
Henderson had a poor night from beyond the arc, but he was accurate enough on other parts of the floor to finish as the Trail Blazers' third-leading scorer behind Damian Lillard (23 points) and Ja Morant (19 points). Lillard and Morant are projected to be the Trail Blazers' starting backcourt for the 2026-27 season, with Henderson and veteran Jrue Holiday (rest) coming off the bench.

Trail Blazers' Scoot Henderson: Starts over Morant
Henderson supplied nine points (3-9 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four assists and one rebound in 18 minutes during Tuesday's 110-98 preseason win over the Kings.
Portland wanted to take a look at Ja Morant out of the second unit, giving Henderson the chance to start Tuesday. It's hard to envision a player of Morant's caliber coming off the bench once the games begin to count, but this at least appears to be a fluid backcourt situation.

Trail Blazers' Scoot Henderson: Knocks down four triples
Henderson recorded 14 points (4-7 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three assists and two steals across 16 minutes off the bench in Monday's 119-66 preseason win over the London Lions.
Henderson was particularly effective from beyond the arc, knocking down four of his five attempts while tying Toumani Camara for the team lead in scoring. The 22-year-old guard also contributed defensively with two steals and committed just one turnover. His perimeter shooting was an encouraging development, though Portland's crowded backcourt could make consistent playing time difficult to secure. Damian Lillard was rested Monday.

Trail Blazers' Scoot Henderson: Decent output in preseason win
Henderson finished with nine points (3-8 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, three assists and one block over 17 minutes in Wednesday's 123-118 preseason win over the Warriors.
Although most of the attention is on Ja Morant and Damian Lillard in Portland's revamped backcourt, Henderson should continue to play a prominent role off the bench this season. Henderson averaged a career-high 14.2 points despite playing a career-low 24.9 minutes per game last regular season.

Trail Blazers' Scoot Henderson: New-look backcourt incoming?
Henderson is in jeopardy of moving back to a bench role after Portland acquired Ja Morant in a trade this offseason.
Henderson closed the 2025-26 campaign as a starter after missing the first half of the season with a torn hamstring. Not only do the Trail Blazers now have Morant in the mix, but Damian Lillard (Achilles) is also a candidate to jump into the starting lineup in his 2026-27 return to the floor. Until Portland makes its backcourt plans a bit clearer, Henderson is a difficult player to rank from a fantasy perspective ahead of the new year.
