JT Woods, S, Baylor
NFL Draft analysis for JT Woods, S, Baylor
Draft Scouting Report:
Rating: 73.28 (Chance to start)
Pro Comparison: Marquise Blair
Strengths:
Woods logged five interceptions and 4.5 tackles for loss in 2021. He is fluid in his movements in the middle of the field, is smooth when changing directions, and he comes downhill with purpose. He's not a thumper in the open field but he will sacrifice his body to make tackle vs. bigger running backs. He consistently shows good hands, and has open-field return ability after interceptions, though he never served as a returner in college.
Weaknesses:
He can be stiff-hipped at times but shows long deep speed on vertical routes (which is reinforced by his 4.36 40 at the combine). He needs to be more consistent as a tackler and he struggled in run support, according to PFF's metrics.
Accolades:
- 2021: Led Big 12 with six interceptions
- 2021: Fifth in program history with 50 games played
