Eagles need to start fast, finish strong

The Philadelphia Eagles have shown that they have a nice finishing kick on offense. Now, they just need a way to get out of the blocks quicker than they have -- the Eagles have scored just seven points total in the first quarter of their five games, on a one-yard run by LeSean McCoy in Week 2 against the Ravens.
Ask anyone in the Eagles locker room to identify the problem and they all say the same thing – turnovers.
“That’s really what you have seen in the starts, in particular with this past week,’’ said coach Andy Reid, alluding to two fumbles by quarterback Michael Vick in the first quarter vs. Pittsburgh, including one inside the 5-yard line.
Vick knows he’s been the main culprit in that and said his mistakes early in the game have dragged the whole team down.
“I’m waiting,’’ he said about getting off to a quick start. “That responsibility falls on, first and foremost, me as the quarterback of this football team. We want to start fast as a team on offense. That’s been our goal and we’re going to put it together at some point. But you have to do it on Sundays and you have to get it done.”
