Injuries have hampered TE Travis Beckum’s three years with the Giants, who placed him on IR on Wednesday. (US Presswire)

The Giants moved TE Travis Beckum to IR because his lingering knee injury would prevent him from playing in the final game of the season. Beckum had offseason surgery to repair the torn ACL he suffered in the last Super Bowl and failed to make a catch this season after coming off PUP in November. Beckum was replaced with CB Terrence Frederick.

Beckum's career with the Giants may be coming to an end. He's a free agent this offseason, and he's had trouble finding a role in the Giants' offense. He had 26 catches in his first three years with the Giants after being drafted in the second round in 2009.

Frederick was previously on the Giants' practice squad, although he was on the 53-man roster in Week 15. He was later waived and returned to the practice squad. The Giants brought back DB Brandon Bing to the practice squad to fill Frederick's role.
