It's a good thing Jared Goff got an $18.5 million signing bonus, because he's going to need that money if he keeps losing bets to Rams third-string quarterback Sean Mannion.
During Tuesday's episode of HBO's Hard Knocks, the two were standing on the field before a recent Rams' practice when Mannion had a brilliant idea that he decided to share with Goff.
Basically, Mannion's idea was to have a competition where each quarterback would try and hit the crossbar from the 10-yard line. Although Goff didn't seem too excited about the idea, he did seem to like the idea of Mannion trying to hit the crossbar, so he made a $100 bet that Mannion couldn't do it.
Here's how the exchange went down during the episode:
Mannion: "Can you hit a crossbar from here?"
Goff: "I'm not going to try."
Mannion: "Why not?"
Goff: "I don't fell like chasing my ball. (Offers bet to Mannion.) Go ahead, a hundred bucks."
Mannion: "A hundred bucks?"
Goff: "We don't gamble in professional sports, but a hundred bucks."
Mannion: "If I hit it on the first try?"
Goff: "Yup."
Mannion: "If I miss it, I don't owe you, right?"
Goff: "No."
Seconds later, there was a loud clank because Mannion nailed the crossbar on his first and only try -- and let's be honest, Goff got straight up hustled here. Just look at Mannion's face.

This was probably the easiest hundred dollars that Mannion's ever made.
It was also the worst bet of all-time, because there was no way Goff could win. If Mannion had missed, he wouldn't have owed Goff any money.
Hopefully this isn't the way Jeff Fisher ends up deciding the Rams' starting quarterback job, because if that's the case, then it looks like Case Keenum and Goff will be starting the season on the bench.
Mannion has been on a roll lately: The quarterback threw 147 yards and three touchdowns in the Rams' 28-24 comeback win over the Cowboys during the first week of the preseason. Goff only threw for 38 yards, while Keenum threw for 58.
Anyway, you can see the contest between the two former Pac-12 quarterbacks here.
