Report: Rob Gronkowski injury is torn ACL
According to reports Rob Gronkowski suffered a torn ACL on Sunday against the Browns.
Earlier Sunday we pointed out the nasty injury suffered by Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski. New England managed to overcome his injury and stun the Browns, but it's still a brutal day for them as it's believed that Gronk suffered a torn ACL Sunday.
Mike Garafalo of Fox Sports reported Sunday afternoon that the Patriots tight end suffered "what's believed to be a torn ACL."
The team will give Gronk an MRI on Monday in order to confirm.
It's not exactly surprising -- if you saw the play in question, you probably thought he tore his ACL. (I know I did.)
That was T.J. Ward making the hit on Gronkowski and, as you can imagine, Bill Belichick wasn't particularly thrilled with the Browns safety after it happened.
No amount of anger's going to get Gronkowski back on the field, though, and that's a major problem for New England. The tight end just recently returned from an offseason full of back and forearm surgeries and appeared to be rounding into form.
The Pats offense was just starting to really round into form. Now they're back to square one and won't likely see Gronk on the field for a long time.
