For at least one week, Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz silenced his critics. The fifth-year receiver, who was plagued by drops in his first two games, posted a team-best 107 receiving yards in a 30-17 win Week 3 vs. Houston.
Cruz got off to a very promising start, as his first catch late in the first quarter went for 61 yards. Cruz took a slant pass and ran past a few defenders before finally being dragged down at the Texans' 15-yard line.
Cruz then really put in work to get his first touchdown of the season and put the Giants up 7-0 in the second quarter. Cruz caught a short pass from Eli Manning, stopped on a dime, made a defender miss and then outran another defender to the end zone for a 26-yard touchdown with 3:21 left before halftime. It was his first touchdown in 13 games.
Cruz, who has 18 career 100-yard games (including playoffs), finished with five catches on six targets. The Giants are back in action Thursday at Washington.
