Newman sustained a shoulder injury in the Jets' preseason finale against the Giants. He appears to have recovered from the injury and will be good to go for Monday's regular-season opener against San Francisco. Newman is slated as the backup center on the Jets' depth chart behind Joe Tippmann.

Newman sustained the injury in the first quarter of Sunday's game. He's competing for a depth spot on the Jets' offensive line, and the extent of his injury will likely factor into his chances of making the 53-man roster at the end of training camp.
