  • Corey Perry: Clears waivers

Perry cleared unconditional waivers Wednesday, resulting in the termination of his contract with the Blackhawks, Lance Hornby of The Toronto Sun reports. Hornby notes Perry will have 60 days to file a grievance if he chooses. It remains unclear what alleged misconduct led to Perry's release by Chicago, but at this point it seems unlikely he'll play again in the NHL in 2023-24.

  • Corey Perry: Placed on unconditional waivers

Perry was placed on unconditional waivers by the Blackhawks for the purpose of terminating his contract Tuesday, Charlie Roumeliotis of NBC Sports Chicago reports. A corresponding statement released by the team said, "After an internal investigation, the Chicago Blackhawks have determined that Corey Perry has engaged in conduct that is unacceptable, and in violation of both the terms of his Standard Player's Contract and the Blackhawks' internal policies intended to promote professional and safe work environments. As such, Corey Perry has been placed on unconditional waivers. In the event Mr. Perry clears waivers, we intent to terminate his contract effective immediately." The details of Perry's alleged misconduct have not been released by the team. The 38-year-old winger has played quite well this season, picking up four goals and nine points through 16 games, but it's hard to imagine another team claiming him off waivers after being cut loose by Chicago, particularly when taking his hefty $4 million salary this year into account.

  • Blackhawks' Corey Perry: Out for foreseeable future

General manager Kyle Davidson said Saturday that Perry will remain away from the team for the "foreseeable future," Mark Lazerus of The Athletic reports. Davidson also said that the decision was the team's rather than Perry's. Perry has missed the last two games as Boris Katchouk has replaced him in the lineup. Perry has four goals and five assists in 16 appearances this season.

  • Blackhawks' Corey Perry: Remains out Friday

Perry, who didn't play Wednesday due to an "organizational decision," will also be kept out of the lineup for Friday's game versus Toronto, Ben Pope of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. The Blackhawks remain quiet about the reason for Perry's continued absence. Coach Luke Richardson did suggest Friday that there might be an update soon, but for now, details are being "kept internal." Perry has four goals and nine points in 16 contests this season. In Perry's absence, Boris Katchouk drew into the lineup Wednesday and will likely dress again Friday.

  • Blackhawks' Corey Perry: Sits as healthy scratch

Perry was a healthy scratch Wednesday versus the Blue Jackets, with head coach Luke Richardson describing the situation as an "organizational decision," Charlie Roumeliotis of NBC Sports Chicago reports. Perry was a surprise scratch before the game, and it appears it is not injury-related. The 38-year-old winger has nine points, 26 shots on net and 11 hits through 16 outings this season as one the Blackhawks' more reliable middle-six forwards, making the team's decision all the more puzzling.

  • Blackhawks' Corey Perry: Out of action Wednesday

Perry (undisclosed) is not expected to play Wednesday versus the Blue Jackets, Charlie Roumeliotis of NBC Sports Chicago reports. It's unclear what's keeping Perry out of the lineup Wednesday. With no healthy forwards available, defenseman Nikita Zaitsev is expected to enter the lineup for Perry.

  • Blackhawks' Corey Perry: Scores in defeat

Perry tallied a goal on three shots in Thursday's 4-2 loss to the Lightning. Perry tied the game 2-2 early in the third period vs. his former team, finishing a nifty passing play off an odd-man rush. It's the second goal in three games for Perry, who's now up to nine points (four goals, five assists) through his first 14 games with Chicago. The 38-year-old veteran has shown he can still provide some fantasy upside in a middle-six role while also averaging 3:56 of ice time on the Blackhawks' top power-play unit.

  • Blackhawks' Corey Perry: Off to great start this season

Perry scored a power-play goal in Thursday's 5-3 win over Tampa Bay. It was his first game against the Lightning since they traded him to the Blackhawks last June. The goal was classic Perry -- he was parked in front of the net, looking for a tip, and he got it. He pushed the score to 5-2 at just 2:12 of the second. The 38-year-old former star is off to his best start in a long time, with three goals, eight points, 19 shots, one power-play goal and one game-winning goal in 12 games this season. Perry may provide you with decent short-term fantasy value off the wire.

  • Blackhawks' Corey Perry: Nets goal in win

Perry scored a goal on two shots and doled out five hits in Monday's 4-1 win over the Maple Leafs. Perry's tally at 14:46 of the second period stood as the game-winner. The veteran winger has thrived in a third-line role so far, collecting a goal, three assists and eight shots on net through four contests. He's added six hits and a minus-1 rating while providing some veteran leadership for a young Blackhawks team. He's also seen ample power-play time but has yet to record a point with the man advantage in 2023-24.

  • Blackhawks' Corey Perry: Two points in debut

Perry posted two assists and two shots in the Blackhawks' 4-2 win over the Penguins on Tuesday. The former Bolt started his Blackhawks tenure in a strong fashion, picking up primary assists on Jason Dickinson's game-winning goal and Nick Foligno's empty-net goal. After signing a one-year deal in the offseason with Chicago, Perry is expected to play a major role in the Blackhawks' bottom-six forward core and first power-play unit.

  • Blackhawks' Corey Perry: Reaches deal with Chicago

Perry signed a one-year, $4 million contract with the Blackhawks on Thursday, Pierre LeBrun of TSN reports. The Blackhawks have plenty of cap space, so they have no qualms about signing a 38-year-old for such money. Perry will provide the Blackhawks a veteran voice in the room as they navigate their rebuild. He could chip in roughly 20 points and could also see some power-play time.

  • Blackhawks' Corey Perry: Rights moved on draft day

Perry's free agent rights were traded from the Lightning to the Blackhawks in exchange for a 2025 seventh-round pick Thursday. Perry has reshaped his game to play a pesky fourth-line role over the past few seasons and he should continue to provide leadership to whatever team he plays for in 2023-24. The Hawks will have until free agency opens Saturday to negotiate a new deal for the veteran winger.

  • Lightning's Corey Perry: Four points in last two games

Perry scored a goal Thursday in a 7-2 loss to Toronto in Game 2. Perry was in fine form yet again. The Worm was under the Leafs skin throughout and came an assist shy of a Gordie Howe hat trick. Perry fought Justin Holl in the third period after picking up the goal, but faced the ire of fans when it became clear he threw the first punch without dropping his glove. He was serenaded to chants of "Perry Sucks" and a fan was even ejected from the arena for taunting Perry in the box. Perry has a goal in each of the first two games, and four points in that span.

  • Lightning's Corey Perry: Three-point night in Toronto

Perry had a goal, two assists and seven shots in Tuesday's 7-3 Game 1 win over the Maple Leafs. The goal and one assist came on the man advantage, but that power-play production was preceded by Perry's helper on Pierre-Edouard Bellemare's tone-setting tally just 1:18 into the game. The 2011 Rocket Richard Trophy winner no longer dominates on a nightly basis at age 37, but Perry's still capable of delivering vintage performances, and he picked a good time for one in the first game of the Stanley Cup playoffs.

  • Lightning's Corey Perry: Not playing Sunday

Perry is not in Sunday's lineup against New Jersey, Chris Krenn of the Lightning's official site reports. Perry had suited up in each of the Lightning's first 70 games this season but appears to be a healthy scratch Sunday. The veteran winger has posted a minus-12 rating with 18 PIM and zero points in his last 14 games. Patrick Maroon will be back in the lineup in a fourth-line role.

Perry scored a goal and an assist in the Lightning's 5-4 loss to the Golden Knights on Saturday. Perry cut the Golden Knights' lead to 4-3 off a nice pass from Victor Hedman. He added an assist on Vladislav Namestnikov's goal. Perry has points in three of his last five games, with four points in that span. On the season, the former Duck has 11 goals and 23 points in 55 games.

  • Lightning's Corey Perry: Contributes assist Tuesday

Perry posted an assist in Tuesday's 4-3 shootout win over the Avalanche. Perry helped out on Vladislav Namestnikov's game-tying goal in the third period. This was Perry's first assist since Jan. 16, but he remained productive with four goals over 10 games in that span. The 37-year-old winger doesn't generate offense or log ice time like he used to, but he's been a solid bottom-six player this season. He's at 21 points (12 on the power play), 81 shots on net, 56 PIM, 32 hits and a minus-14 rating through 53 appearances.

  • Lightning's Corey Perry: Lights lamp twice in win

Perry scored two goals, one on the power play, in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Wild. Both tallies came in the second period as Perry tipped home long-range shots. The 37-year-old had only two points, a goal and an assist, over his prior 15 games, and what fantasy value Perry still possesses comes from his spot on the power play -- he has five goals and 11 points with the man advantage, the first time he's reached double-digit power-play points in a season since 2017-18, but he has only three goals and seven points at even strength through 46 games.

  • Lightning's Corey Perry: Nine games without a point

Perry has gone nine games without a point and 11 games without a goal. Perry is performing in a bottom-six role for Tampa after a long career as a sniper. His last point was an assist December 17 against Montreal and his goal came December 13 against Seattle. Overall, Perry has five goals and nine assists in 39 games. Nine of his 14 points have come on the power play (three PPG, six PPA).

Perry scored a second-period goal during a 6-2 victory over the visiting Kraken on Tuesday. Perry notched his fifth goal of the season on the power play at 12:13 of the second period Tuesday, giving the Lightning a 3-1 advantage. The 37-year-old right winger is skating as he did a decade ago, collecting seven points in his past six appearances. Perry, who scored 50 goals with the Ducks in 2010-11, converted on his lone shot on goal during 11:40 of ice time against the Kraken.
