GREENSBORO, N.C. (AP) Marvin Smith scored 17 points, including a pair of free throws with 10 seconds left to put the game out of reach, and UNC Greensboro held off a late rally to beat Liberty, 72-65 on Saturday night.

Lovell Cabbil hit a 3-pointer with 13 seconds left to get the Flames within five points, 70-65.

Greensboro built a 15-point lead in the first half and led by 16 after Diante Baldwin's layup with 13:50 left in the game. Ray Chen and Caleb Homesley each hit 3-pointers in the final two minutes to get the Liberty close.

Smith (17 points), R.J. White (16) and Francis Alonso (15) combined to score 48 of the Spartans' 72 points. Greensboro (6-2) was 21 of 50 from the field (42 percent), including 5 of 17 from long range.

Homesley scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds and Chen added 14 points for Liberty (4-4).
