Sampson declined his outright assignment to Triple-A Tacoma and elected free agency Wednesday.
Sampson was designated for assignment by Seattle over the weekend, and he'll be free to seek out other opportunities after declining his outright assignment. The right-hander has made five starts in the minors this year and has posted a 3.66 ERA and 1.35 WHIP in 19.2 innings.
