Chi Chi Gonzalez: Elects free agency

Gonzalez elected free agency after clearing waivers Saturday.

Gonzalez has thrown 18.1 innings this season between brief stints for the Twins and Brewers, struggling to a 6.87 ERA and 15.2 percent strikeout rate. Those numbers aren't too far from his career 5.72 ERA and 13.5 percent strikeout rate over parts of six major-league seasons, so he'll likely be stuck searching for a minor-league deal on the open market.
