The Dodgers designated Petersen for assignment Sunday.
The 30-year-old was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Friday and has now lost his place on the 40-man roster. Petersen has received his first look in the majors this season and has a 6.43 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and 11:8 K:BB over 14 innings.
