Giants' Michael Papierski: Contract selected by Giants

Papierski's contract was selected by the Giants on Saturday, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

The 26-year-old was traded from the Astros to the Giants last weekend, and he'll join the big-league roster after Curt Casali (concussion) was placed on the 7-day injured list. Papierski should serve mainly as a backup catcher during his time on the active roster, but he'll start behind the dish and bat ninth while making his major-league debut Saturday against the Padres.
