Zabala was designated for assignment Monday, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports.
Zabala's contract was purchased on Saturday, but he'll leave both the active and 40-man rosters just two days later. He threw 0.2 innings Sunday against the Astros in his big-league debut, striking out one while allowing no runs on one hit.
