Kemp (ribs) was released by the Reds on Saturday.
Kemp hit just .200/.210/.283 in 20 games before landing on the injured list with a broken rib. The Reds will simply let him go rather than wait for him to recover. The fracture may complicate Kemp's ability to sign another contract, at least in the near future.
