Rangers' Will Middlebrooks: Called up by Rangers

Middlebrooks was called up by the Rangers on Friday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

The Rangers will reward Middlebrooks for his strong season with Triple-A Round Rock, and it's possible he will see some playing time in the immediate future with Adrian Beltre nursing a hamstring strain. Middlebrooks generated a lot of buzz after hitting 15 homers in 75 games with the Red Sox as a 23-year-old in 2012, but ever since his contact woes and lack of patience have been exploited by big-league hurlers.
