The Rays optioned Bard to Triple-A Durham on Monday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Bard finds himself as the odd man out for the Rays, who needed to reduce their pitching staff to the MLB-mandated 13 men prior to Monday's game against the Yankees. Outfielder Josh Lowe was added to the active roster as a replacement for Bard, who struck out five over six scoreless frames across his four relief appearances with Tampa Bay following his June 7 call-up from Triple-A.
