Travis is expected to start against Texas left-hander Martin Perez on Wednesday, Chad Jennings of the Boston Herald reports.

Boston's most advanced hitting prospect was added to the 40-man roster and called up to the majors Tuesday. He'll serve as the right-handed complement to Mitch Moreland at first base, getting starts against left-handers. With Hanley Ramirez exhibiting no signs that he's ready to play the field due to lingering shoulder issues, Travis will get plenty of opportunities to prove he belongs with the big club.
