  • Andrew Morris RP | MIN

Twins' Andrew Morris: Slated to open Tuesday's contest

Morris will serve as the Twins' opening pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Tigers, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports.

Morris is set to serve as the opener for the third time this season. He last started June 4, when he allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out two over two innings against the Royals. Connor Prielipp is a candidate to follow Morris as the primary pitcher out of the bullpen.

  • Erik Tolman RP | WAS

Nationals' Erik Tolman: Dominant in first save

Tolman struck out four in two clean innings to earn the save Monday against Miami.

Closer Clayton Beeter worked two innings for a hold Sunday against the Marlins, so he likely wasn't available for Monday's save opportunity. Tolman is making a case for more high-leverage work in Washington's much-maligned bullpen, firing 6.2 scoreless innings while posting a 0.75 WHIP and 8:2 K:BB to go with a save plus a hold apiece for the Nationals so far this season.

  • Blas Castano RP | COL

Rockies' Blas Castano: Set to join big club

Castano is expected to be recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday when rosters expand, Kevin Henry of The Denver Gazette reports.

Castano worked to a 3.93 and 1.36 WHIP with 14 strikeouts over 18.1 innings (nine appearances) during his last stint in the big leagues. He'll likely be asked to provide support out of the bullpen once his promotion becomes official Tuesday.

  • Brady Basso RP | ATH

Athletics' Brady Basso: Serving as opener Tuesday

Basso will be deployed as the Athletics' opening pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Rangers, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Tuesday will mark the fourth time that Basso has served as an opener. He struggled in his last opportunity Aug. 23 against Houston, surrendering three runs on four hits over one inning.

  • William Dion RP | WAS

Nationals' Will Dion: Impressive in first MLB start

Dion took a no-decision against the Marlins on Monday, allowing no runs on two hits and one walk in three innings. He struck out one.

Making his first career major-league start Monday, Dion fared as well as the Nationals could have hoped for. It was somewhat surprising to see the left-hander be lifted after throwing just 37 pitches (26 strikes), considering he's tossed as many as 64 for Washington this season. He's set to finish a two-start week this weekend against the Dodgers in Los Angeles, where he'll bring a strong 3.38 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 42:10 K:BB over 37.1 innings.

  • Will Watson RP | NYM

Mets' Will Watson: Returns to health

Watson (oblique) was activated from the 60-day injured list Thursday.

Watson, who landed on the injured list in May due to an oblique injury, wrapped up a rehab assignment with High-A Brooklyn on Aug. 21 and has since returned to Double-A Binghamton. He's struggled at Double-A so far this season, accruing a 7.83 ERA and 1.78 WHIP with a 21:14 K:BB across 23.0 innings.

  • Guardians' Carlos Hernandez: Getting call to big leagues

Hernandez will have his contract selected from Triple-A Columbus ahead of Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays, Guardians Prospective reports.

Hernandez has been decent at Triple-A since being activated from the 60-day injured list near the end of July, though one blowup outing against Saint Paul on Aug. 20 has inflated his ERA to 5.40 over 13.1 innings (12 appearances). He'll be called on to provide bullpen support for the Guardians once rosters expand Tuesday.

  • Nationals' Richard Lovelady: Facing live hitters

Lovelady (triceps) pitched in a bridge game Friday, MLB.com reports.

Lovelady has been on the injured list since June 29 due to a left triceps strain but has since been cleared to face live hitters. The Nationals haven't been eager to lay out a timeline for the southpaw's return, though he'll seemingly be activated from the IL at some point during the final month of the regular season.

  • Jordan Leasure RP | CHW

White Sox's Jordan Leasure: Undergoes UCL procedure

Leasure underwent surgery to repair a torn UCL in August, James Fegan of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

Leasure will miss the remainder of this season and likely all of next season while on the mend. Fegan notes that the right-hander hopes to be ready for spring of 2028. Leasure landed on the injured list in late May with a right flexor strain, and while he had been cleared to resume throwing side sessions at the beginning of August, it was ultimately determined that he needed to go under the knife to repair his UCL.

  • Cade Gibson RP | MIA

Marlins' Cade Gibson: Moving up from Triple-A

The Marlins recalled Gibson from Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday.

Miami had just optioned Gibson to Triple-A on Wednesday, but he'll be able to rejoin the big club less than a week later after infielder Xavier Edwards (thumb) was placed on the injured list in a corresponding move. The 28-year-old southpaw owns a 5.87 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 32:19 K:BB over 38.1 innings for the Marlins this season.
