Head coach Peter Laviolette is hopeful that Eller (not injury related) could return for Sunday's matinee against the Hurricanes, Tarik El-Bashir of The Athletic reports.
Eller has missed the last six games working his way back from a COVID-19 infection prior to Washington's recent trip to the West Coast. Eller skated on the second line during Saturday's practice session and should continue to occupy a top-six role upon his return to the lineup -- at least as long as Nicklas Backstrom (hip) remains sidelined.
