Masters 2017: Computer scoreboard simulation reveals massive favorite
SportsLine has updated its computer projections with some surprising results
The Masters field is wide open, particularly after Dustin Johnson, the tournament favorite and world’s No. 1 golfer, was forced to withdraw due to a freak back injury he suffered on Wednesday.
The SportsLine Projection Model ran 10,000 simulations, taking Thursday’s first round scores into consideration, and came up with some surprising results for the final leaderboard.
For example, Lee Westwood, who’s currently third at 2-under, has just the seventh-best chance of winning the whole thing. Meanwhile a player who’s seven shots off the lead won eight percent of simulations and has the second-best chance to win the Masters.
You’re going to want to see the rest of the projections.
