Steve Stricker defeated Henrik Stenson 5 and 4

How it ended: This match was never even square. Stricker led every hole and eventually put Stenson away on No. 14. He will face Nick Watney on Friday.

Nick Watney defeated David Toms 5 and 4

How it ended: Watney won three of their last four hole and two-putted for the win on No. 14. He'll face Steve Stricker in an intriguing second round match on Friday.

Alex Noren defeated Dustin Johnson 6 and 4

How it ended: Johnson drove it into a bush off the fairway on hole No. 14, picked his ball up, and conceded the match. Unceremonious. 

Martin Kaymer defeated George Coetzee 2 and 1

How it ended: This was a pretty uneventful match. The two were all square thru 10 but Kaymer but a firm grip on the match down the back nine. It ended with a Coetzee missed 8-footer on No. 17.

Marcus Fraser defeated Keegan Bradley 1 up

How it ended: Fraser hit a big-time 20-footer on hole No. 17 to go one up heading to the last hole. Bradley hit his drive in the sand and couldn't reach the green. Fraser bogeyed for the win.

Bradley did have the shot of the day however.

Webb Simpson defeated David Lynn 5 and 4

How it ended: Lynn only won one hole all day and Simpson put him away early on the back nine with birdies on No. 11 and No. 13.

Rafael Cabrera-Bello defeated Lee Westwood 1 up in 19 holes

How it ended: Westwood was one up going to the 18th hole before Cabrera-Bello birdied to go to extra holes. Cabrera-Bello then made birdie on the extra hole to defeat the two-seeded Westwood.

Westwood and Adam Scott are the highest seeds (2-seed) to lose so far.
