Derek Holland takes second loss
Rangers starting pitcher Derek Holland was pegged with his second loss Saturday against the Twins. Holland, who made his sixth start, allowed four runs (three earned) over his seven innings of work.
He allowed just one unearned run through five innings but ran into some trouble in the sixth. With one out and one on in the frame, Holland left a slider over the plate that Josh Willingham crushed into the left-field seats for a two-run home run. He also surrendered a run in the seventh before being pulled after throwing 97 pitches -- 68 for strikes.
Holland finished with six strikeouts and one walk, while falling to 1-2 with a 3.38 ERA.
The left-hander, who is now winless over his last two outings, will look to get himself back in the win column when he faces the Red Sox at home next Friday. Holland is 0-1 with a 2.40 ERA in his two starts at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
