Surgery date unknown for Matt Harvey

Mets pitcher Matt Harvey is expected to have Tommy John surgery in October, but the date of that surgery is still unknown, according to ESPN.

A team official said the team is unaware when Harvey will have the procedure. He's expected to miss all of 2014 once he has surgery. Dr. James Andrews is expected to perform the surgery. Harvey had a 2.27 ERA in 178 1/3 innings.
