Tigers' Miguel Diaz: Opening Tuesday's contest
Diaz will serve as the Tigers' opening pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
For the second time in three days, Diaz will open a game for the Tigers. After tossing a scoreless inning Sunday against the Angels before giving way to Joey Wentz, Diaz will most likely cover an inning or two Tuesday before giving way to Alex Faedo, who is available on five days' rest. Since joining the Tigers as a September call-up, Diaz has quickly emerged as one of manager A.J. Hinch's most trusted relievers. Diaz has yet to allow a run and has struck out nine while walking two over 6.2 innings.

Tigers' Miguel Diaz: Serving as opener Sunday
Diaz is listed as the Tigers' probable starting pitcher Sunday against the Angels.
The 28-year-old had his contract selected by Detroit when rosters expanded to 28 players Sept. 1, and he's delivered 5.2 scoreless frames in six outings since joining the big club. Joey Wentz is poised to serve as the Tigers' primary pitcher after Diaz works an inning or two.

Tigers' Miguel Diaz: Tosses scoreless inning Sunday
Diaz served as the opener in Sunday's 5-3 win over the Angels, allowing a hit and a walk in a scoreless inning of work. He struck out one.
Diaz got into a little bit of trouble but managed to extend his scoreless streak to seven appearances since joining Detroit's roster at the beginning of this month. The righty doesn't have a ton of fantasy appeal at the moment, though he could earn a role in the team's 2024 bullpen if he continues to pitch well down the stretch.

Tigers' Miguel Diaz: Added to roster
The Tigers selected Diaz's contract from Triple-A Toledo on Friday.
The 28-year-old got into three games for the Tigers last season but has spent all of this year at Toledo, collecting a 5.05 ERA and 73:26 K:BB over 57 innings. Diaz was closing in Triple-A but will probably be used in low-leverage spots with the big club.

Tigers' Miguel Diaz: Headed to Detroit
The Tigers will select Diaz's contract Friday.
Diaz will add some depth to the Tigers' bullpen, though he's struggled with Triple-A Toledo this season by posting a 5.05 ERA with a 1.40 WHIP across 57 innings. Positively, he has shown the ability to consistently generate whiffs, also racking up 73 punchouts in that span.

Tigers' Miguel Diaz: Heading to minors
The Tigers reassigned Diaz to minor-league camp Monday, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.
Diaz will presumably open the season at Triple-A Toledo after he was unable to secure a spot in the Tigers' Opening Day bullpen. The right-hander previously made three appearances at the big-league level with Detroit in 2022 and owns a career 5.37 ERA over 112.1 innings in the majors between stops with the Padres and Tigers.

Tigers' Miguel Diaz: Returns to Detroit on minors deal
Diaz signed a minor-league deal with Detroit on Wednesday, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
The Tigers designated Diaz for assignment in mid-November and subsequently non-tendered him, but he'll still have a role with the team as organizational depth. The 28-year-old righty only threw 3.2 major-league innings last season and recorded an unremarkable 4.29 ERA in 65 innings at the Triple-A level.

Miguel Diaz: Denied contract for 2023
The Tigers declined to tender Diaz a contract for 2023.
Diaz was designated for assignment earlier this week and now the two sides have officially parted ways. Most of Diaz's 2022 season was spent at Triple-A Toledo, where he posted a 4.71 ERA and 1.38 WHIP over 65 innings.

Tigers' Miguel Diaz: DFA'd by Detroit
Diaz was designated for assignment by the Tigers on Tuesday.
The 27-year-old was called up to the majors for the final week of the season but won't retain his spot on the MLB roster. Diaz spent the rest of the campaign at Triple-A Toledo and had a 4.71 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 69:30 K:BB across 65 innings.

Tigers' Miguel Diaz: Called up by Detroit
Diaz's contract was selected from Triple-A Toledo on Thursday.
Diaz posted a 0.60 ERA, 0.67 WHIP and stellar 25:1 K:BB: in 15.0 innings over his last 14 appearances with Toledo, so the Tigers decided to reward him with a late-season call-up. He will provide depth in Detroit's bullpen the rest of the way.

Tigers' Miguel Diaz: Misses out on Opening Day roster
The Tigers reassigned Diaz to minor-league camp Monday.
Diaz, who was attending big-league camp as a non-roster invitee, appeared to have decent odds of earning a spot in the Tigers' Opening Day bullpen until he allowed three earned runs -- including back-to-back home runs -- in his relief appearance in Sunday's Grapefruit League game against the Orioles. The 27-year-old right-hander spent the 2021 campaign in San Diego, appearing in 25 games for the big club and posting a 3.64 ERA and 1.19 WHIP across 42 innings.

Tigers' Miguel Diaz: Joins Tigers on minor-league deal
Diaz signed a minor-league contract with the Tigers on Saturday which will pay him $800,000 if he cracks the major-league roster, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
Diaz recorded a career-best 3.64 ERA in a career-high 42 innings last season but passed through waivers unclaimed in October and was stuck with a minor-league deal on the open market. The 27-year-old righty is unlikely to find his way to a high-leverage role, but it wouldn't be a surprise to see him spend a large portion of the upcoming season in the majors.

Padres' Miguel Diaz: Removed from 40-man roster
Diaz cleared waivers and was outrighted off the Padres' 40-man roster Friday.
Diaz isn't a high-leverage arm, but he's decent enough and young enough (26) that it's perhaps a surprise to see him pass through waivers unclaimed. In 42 major-league innings this season, he posted a 3.64 ERA, striking out 26.7 percent of opposing batters while walking 11.0 percent.

Padres' Miguel Diaz: Sent to Triple-A
Diaz was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
Diaz has been with the major-league club since late July and posted a 4.26 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 14:3 K:BB across 12.2 innings during his time with the team. He could rejoin the Friars down the stretch when bullpen help is required.

Padres' Miguel Diaz: Recalled from Triple-A
Diaz was recalled by the Pirates on Saturday.
Diaz has bounced on and off throughout the season, getting optioned three separate times in the month of July alone. He's been effective in 29.1 major-league innings, posting a 3.38 ERA, though his 13.0 percent walk rate is potentially cause for concern.

Padres' Miguel Diaz: Optioned to Triple-A
Diaz was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Saturday.
Diaz has been shuffled between the Padres and Triple-A El Paso recently, and he didn't make any appearances during his most recent stint with the major-league club. Left-hander Ryan Weathers (ankle) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move.

Padres' Miguel Diaz: Recalled Tuesday
Diaz was recalled from Triple-A El Paso prior to Tuesday's game against Atlanta.
Diaz was optioned to El Paso on Monday but now will head back to the big leagues following Craig Stammen's placement on the paternity list. The right-handed Diaz has been steady during his time in the majors, holding a 3.38 ERA and 1.23 WHIP across 29.1 big-league innings

Padres' Miguel Diaz: Sent to Triple-A
Diaz was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Monday.
The right-hander was recalled by the Padres just before the All-Star break and made three appearances during his stint in the majors. Diaz covered 3.2 scoreless frames in two outings, but he surrendered four runs in one inning during his other appearance. Overall he's been a solid bullpen piece for the Friars this year with a 3.38 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 32:16 K:BB across 29.1 innings, so he should be back in the majors before too long.

Padres' Miguel Diaz: Victorious in return
Diaz (3-1) won Friday's 4-2 game with the Rockies, pitching 2.2 innings in relief and allowing one hit with three strikeouts.
Diaz entered in the fourth and departed after the sixth, falling in line for the win once San Diego took a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the inning. This was Diaz's first appearance since June 26 after a brief stint in Triple-A. He remains a stealth option with an excellent 2.30 ERA.
