Max Borghi, RB, Washington State
NFL Draft analysis for Max Borghi, RB, Washington State
Draft Scouting Report:
Rating: 72.36 (Chance to start)
Pro Comparison: Boston Scott
Strengths:
Versatile back with a unique running style. Almost looks like he's a video-game running back with the way he leans/bends while running at/close to full speed to change his path. Subtle cutting skills and when needed, he'll hit a good-enough jumpcut to make a defender miss. Has moments of outstanding vision between the tackles. Was a highly productive receiver earlier in his career. Routinely deploys an effective stiff arm to stablize himself through contact. His flexibility helps him a great deal to stay on his feet and turn the corner once he's there or make a quick cut if a hole materializes. Decently fun scat back with good size for that role.
Weaknesses:
Doesn't appear to be a high-caliber athlete, and his strides are short. Contact balance isn't brutal but not a strong suit. Not incredibly explosive but does appear to be decently fast to beat most defenders to the corner.
Accolades:
- 2021: Only player in FBS named to Doak Walker Award (top running back) and Biletnikoff Award (top receiver) preseason watch lists
- 2021: Honorable mention All-Pac-12
