Obinna Eze, OL, TCU
NFL Draft analysis for Obinna Eze, OL, TCU
Draft Scouting Report:
Rating: 75.06 (Chance to start)
Pro Comparison: Chukwuma Okorafor
Strengths:
Will be one of the longest OT prospects in combine history. Big, somewhat clunky tackle who understands his arms are his best friends. Burst off the snap is good, not great. Despite his relative lack of fluidity, he blocks everything in pass pro. Very methodical and patient. Not at all a waister-bender and his back-bend is outstanding. Anchors very well. Being as big as he is helps. Hand work is typically good but his "miss" is being late. Unique type worth picking and developing. Can't teach his girth and length, and for his size, his overall movement skills are respectable. Further ahead in pass pro than run blocking, which is better than the other way around.
Weaknesses:
His kick-slide in pass protection needs technical work. Not smooth. Feet are a touch heavy. Many of his reps against pure speed rushers are last-seconds wins.
Accolades:
- 2021: Honorable mention Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year
- 37 consecutive starts at left tackle (between Memphis and TCU) to finish career
