Michael Vick reportedly spent $300K on his wedding
Michael Vick reportedly spent $300,000 on his wedding. That's a lot of money, but relative to how much Vick makes, it sure sounds like he got out pretty cheap.

Michael Vick got married over the weekend. Reportedly, I think -- he also celebrated his birthday last week, shoutout to a fellow June 26-er -- and you would probably guess that it cost a lot of money.
It did, but not nearly as much as one would imagine: according to South Florida gossip website GossipExtra.com, Vick dropped $300,000 for the event at the Fontainebleau resort in Miami.
The site reports that "waffles and chicken" were on the menu and that it included "private pool-side concerts by Gym Class Heroes, Maroon 5 and Flo Rida."
There were also reportedly "about 300 family members, friends and NFL colleagues" at the event, including Eagles running back LeSean McCoy, coach Andy Reid, Falcons wideout Roddy White and free-agent wideout Plaxico Burress.
Considering that Vick recently signed his second $100 million contract, I say to him: Well done, sir, you got off cheap. Or reportedly got off cheap, I guess.
Don't get me wrong: $300,000 is a lot of money. But it's also less than three percent of his 2012 salary and less than one percent of the $30 million-plus in guaranteed money he got from his latest deal with the Eagles.
There's probably a concern here if Vick still owes lots of money to creditors, but, seriously, spending $300,000 on a wedding isn't that outrageous. (Helping to put it in perspective is the fact that Adam Jones said he once spent $1 million in a single weekend, without the help of a wife and a mother-in-law and a wedding planner.)
In fact, I might argue that Vick got off cheap here and/or that the actual number is a LOT higher. Go try and book a room at Fontainebleau for next weekend. Your cheapest option will be $349 a night. That's not a private event and I'm guessing that Vick didn't stay in the cheapest room the hotel offers.
When you're done with that, go try and book a private concert from Flo Rida and Maroon 5. I'd guess the price tag on such an event is well north of $25,000 per band.
Folks, we haven't even gotten into a discussion about the cost of a wedding dress, the cost of flowers, the cost of food or the cost of the bar bill, all of which are typically quite pricey.
I asked our resident free-lance celebrity-wedding expert how much she thought Vick would've spent on his wedding. She threw out $2 million. When I told her the reported price tag, she was shocked.
"Seriously, that is nothing," Mrs. Brinson said.
Nothing is obviously a stretch (and I'd like to point out it's also relative to other celebrity weddings). There are millions of Americans who won't ever make $300,000 in their lifetime. But for a celebrity of Vick's stature and paycheck-cashing ability, getting out of a wedding for that reported amount is perhaps the most impressive move of Vick's elusive career.
