It didn’t take long for the Jets to realize that Brady Quinn would NOT be the team’s quarterback savior this year. In fact, they no longer want him around and will release him back into free agency, according to ESPN.

The Jets signed Quinn only five days ago, and, in the process, released Graham Harrell. Quinn was the fourth quarterback on the roster behind Geno Smith, Mark Sanchez and Matt Simms. For the record, we still don’t know how long Sanchez will be out with a shoulder injury.

This is the second time Quinn has been cut this preseason. He previously was in Seattle, but Tarvaris Jackson beat him out for the No. 2 job.

Quinn, though, might not be gone for long.

The reason for releasing him and then re-signing him after Week 1 is so that the team wouldn't have to guarantee a full year's salary for Quinn.

According to the NY Daily News, Jeremy Kerley will be the team's No. 3 emergency quarterback behind Smith and Simms.
