Dolphins' De'Von Achane: Sitting out season finale
Achane (shoulder) is inactive for Sunday's game against the Patriots.
As was expected after the Dolphins listed him as doubtful on their final injury report of the season, Achane will ultimately sit out Sunday while he nurses what's believed to be a minor shoulder injury. With Achane in street clothes, Miami will have Jaylen Wright, Ollie Gordon, Donovan Edwards and Jeff Wilson as its available running backs for Week 18. Achane will conclude his third NFL season with a career-high 1,350 rushing yards (5.7 per carry) to go with 67 catches for 488 yards and 12 total touchdowns over 16 games.

Dolphins' De'Von Achane: Officially listed as doubtful
Achane (shoulder) is officially listed as doubtful for Sunday's season finale against the Patriots, David Furones of the South Florida Sun Sentinel reports.
Achane has missed three consecutive practices due to a shoulder injury and will be considered a game-time decision for Week 18, per Omar Kelly of the Miami Herald. With the Dolphins already eliminated from playoff contention, the team may opt to err on the side of caution with the health of Achane, who arguably is the club's top playmaker on offense. He hasn't yet missed a game in 2025, and across 16 regular-season appearances the undersized ball carrier leads Miami's offense with 1,838 yards from scrimmage, which is fifth most in the NFL. If Achane is inactive Sunday, Jaylen Wright likely will start out of the backfield while Ollie Gordon and new signee Donovan Edwards contribute in depth roles. Achane's status will be made official no later than 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff.

Dolphins' De'Von Achane: To be game-time decision
Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said Achane (shoulder) will not practice Friday and will be considered a game-time decision for Sunday's season finale against the Patriots, Omar Kelly of the Miami Herald reports.
Achane is seemingly trending toward receiving an official 'questionable' tag with the release of Friday's injury report, though McDaniel noted that Miami typically holds players who are unable to close the practice week with any on-field reps out of game action, per Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald. Meanwhile, the Dolphins are placing TE Darren Waller (groin) on IR on Friday, while WRJaylen Waddle (ribs) will practice in a limited capacity and be listed as questionable. With Miami already well out of playoff contention, the team could simply opt to take a cautious approach and preserve Achane's health. In that case, Jaylen Wright would stand to lead the team's backfield Week 18, while rookie Ollie Gordon would step into the No. 2 role, with newcomer Donovan Edwards also potentially available to mix in.

Achane is missing a second consecutive practice due to a shoulder injury, giving him just one more chance to handle on-field reps ahead of Sunday's regular-season finale against the Patriots. There was no clear sign of trouble during Sunday's 20-18 win over Tampa Bay, with Achane taking carries deep into the fourth quarter and ultimately finishing with 21 touches on a 74 percent snap share. He's up to 1,838 yards from scrimmage on the season, having yet to miss a game. Jaylen Wright has been Miami's No. 2 RB of late, ahead of Ollie Gordon.

Dolphins' De'Von Achane: Over 100 scrimmage yards in win
Achane rushed 18 times for 83 yards and brought in all three targets for 29 yards in the Dolphins' 20-17 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday.
Achane set the pace for the Dolphins' ground attack as usual and collected some solid gains against a stout Buccaneers run defense. The versatile back also made his customary contributions in the passing game, and Achane will look to put a stamp on what is already a career-best season in a Week 18 road matchup against the Patriots.
