Utah acquired Sergachev from Tampa Bay on Saturday in exchange for Conor Geekie, J.J. Moser, a 2025 second-round pick and a 2024 seventh-round selection.
No salary was retained by the Lightning in the deal, meaning Utah will absorb Sergachev's $8.5 million cap hit through the 2030-31 season. The defender is coming off an injury-riddled year but showed his elite value with a dominant 64-point campaign in 2022-23. Sergachev immediately assumes number-one status in Utah and will run the team's power play.

Lightning's Mikhail Sergachev: Notches helper in return
Rotowire
Sergachev (leg) picked up an assist and added two blocked shots and a hit in 17:03 of ice time during Saturday's 6-3 Game 4 win over the Panthers.
Seeing his first game action since fracturing his left leg in multiple places Feb. 7, Sergachev gave the Lightning an emotional boost with his surprising and early return, helping Tampa Bay avoid getting swept out of the first round. The 25-year-old blueliner didn't see his usual workload, but that's to be expected given his long layoff. He'll likely see similar ice time Monday in Game 5.

Lightning's Mikhail Sergachev: Won't be back for Round 1
Rotowire
Sergachev (leg) won't be available for the opening round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, Chris Krenn of the Lightning's official site reports.

Head coach Jon Cooper is encouraged by Sergachev's progress but acknowledged that the Lightning may need to win a round or two in the postseason before the 25-year-old defender is available to return to the lineup. In 34 contests during the 2023-24 campaign, Sergachev posted two goals, 19 points and 53 shots on net.

Lightning's Mikhail Sergachev: Goes under knife Thursday
Rotowire
Sergachev underwent surgery to repair a fractured tibia and fibula in his left leg Thursday.
Sergachev was just one game back from a previous lower-body injury that sidelined him for 17 contests before being stretchered off the ice against the Rangers on Wednesday. While the team didn't offer a specific recovery timeline for the blueliner, he is probably facing 6-8 weeks on the shelf before he can even begin skating. At this point, Sergachev will almost certainly be placed on long-term injured reserve in the coming days and might not return before the start of the playoffs. Darren Raddysh figures to see an increased role with the man advantage while Sergachev is sidelined.

Lightning's Mikhail Sergachev: Hurt versus Rangers
Rotowire
Sergachev needed to be stretchered off the ice after sustaining an apparent left leg injury Wednesday versus the Rangers, Peter Baugh of The Athletic reports.
Sergachev's return from a 17-game absence was cut short when he went down following a reverse hit from Alexis Lafreniere. The fact that Sergachev needed to be stretchered off is not a good sign, though it's unclear if the Lightning will have an update on his status following the contest. Calvin de Haan or Haydn Fleury could fill in if Sergachev is forced to miss time again.

Lightning's Mikhail Sergachev: Five points in last two games
Rotowire
Sergachev had a goal and two assists in a 6-4 victory over Edmonton on Saturday.
After a slow start to the season, Sergachev has really picked up the scoring pace with eight points (two goals, six assists) in his last seven games. That includes five points (two goals, three assists) in his past two outings. Much has been made of Sergachev's slow start and his lack of output on the power play, but now he's flirting with a 60-point pace and another double-digit season in goals. You may still find a few disgruntled managers who may be prepared to move him. Remember -- any deal is for the future production and not the frustration of the past. Sergachev's best is yet to come this season.

Lightning's Mikhail Sergachev: Two points in win
Rotowire
Sergachev notched a goal and an assist in Thursday's 4-2 win over Chicago.
Sergachev put the Lightning ahead 2-1 midway through the second period, firing a slapshot through traffic for his first goal of the season. The 25-year-old blueliner would add a second point with an assist on Brandon Hagel's empty-netter in the third. Sergachev came into the day with just three assists in his previous eight contests. Overall, he's up to 10 points (one goal, nine assists) through his first 17 games this year.
Sergachev had two assists in a 6-0 win over the Sharks on Tuesday.
He fed Brayden Point for the first Lightning goal at 1:41 of the first period, and then Sergachev earned a power-play helper on Steven Stamkos' snipe in the last minute of the first frame. Sergachev is on a three-game, four-assist streak, but his current 50-plus point pace has been overshadowed by Victor Hedman's better than a point-per-game pace out of the blocks. The power-play helper is a good sign for Sergachev because Hedman has been getting more of the PP1 time to date. We're confident Sergachev will continue to build on his success of last season. Relax -- no need to stress.
