Mahura was scratched for the 12th game in a row in Thursday's 9-4 loss to the Oilers.
Mahura has no path to playing time, as the Kraken haven't made changes on defense since they got their preferred six blueliners healthy in early November. The 27-year-old has two points, nine shots on net, 13 hits, 21 blocked shots, 16 PIM and a plus-6 rating over 13 appearances. He'll compete with Cale Fleury if an injury opens up a spot in the Kraken's defense later in the season.
Mahura scored the game-winning goal in overtime in a 4-3 victory over the Maple Leafs on Saturday.
He cut around William Nylander and fired the puck past Anthony Stolarz from the slot to win the game. Mahura ended a streak of 134 regular-season games without a goal. His last tally came on Jan. 17, 2023, when he was with Florida. Interestingly, Mahura played in Scotiabank Arena against the Maple Leafs that night, too.

Mahura has gotten a chance to play regularly due to the absence of Ryker Evans (upper body) to start the season. Over three outings, Mahura has a helper, four shots on net, six hits, three blocked shots and a plus-2 rating. He'll feature in a third-pairing role as long as he stays in the lineup.

Kraken's Josh Mahura: Draws in, earns helper
Rotowire
Mahura logged an assist, two PIM and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 5-1 win over the Sharks.
Mahura was scratched for the previous two games before replacing Cale Fleury in the lineup Saturday. The 26-year-old Mahura saw steady playing time between mid-December and mid-March, but he's been out of action for five of the Kraken's last 12 contests. He has the same number of assists as last season (nine), but it's taken him twice as many games (60) to get to that mark. He's added 57 shots on net, 81 hits, 50 blocked shots, 18 PIM and a plus-6 rating in a third-pairing role.

Kraken's Josh Mahura: Posts assist Thursday
Rotowire
Mahura recorded an assist and three hits in Thursday's 5-3 loss to the Predators.
Mahura has two helpers over six games since the 4 Nations Face-Off break, matching his output from the 12 games prior to the pause in the schedule. The 26-year-old blueliner remains on the Kraken's third pairing, and he's likely to finish the year there unless he gets traded Friday. He won't carry much appeal on the market or in fantasy with just eight assists to go with 50 shots on net, 70 hits, 40 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating over 51 appearances.

Kraken's Josh Mahura: Puts up helper Sunday
Rotowire
Mahura logged an assist, two shots on goal and four hits in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Lightning.
Mahura ended a four-game slump with the helper. The 26-year-old continues to fill a third-pairing role, and given Seattle's inconsistent offense as a team, Mahura shouldn't be expected to be a big contributor. He's produced seven assists, 49 shots on net, 63 hits and 37 blocked shots across 47 appearances this season.

Kraken's Josh Mahura: Posts assist in loss
Rotowire
Mahura notched an assist in Sunday's 3-2 loss to the Flames.
Mahura has a helper in each of the last two games after going seven contests without a point. For the season, he's up to six assists, 41 shots on net, 56 hits, 31 blocked shots and a plus-4 rating over 42 appearances. Mahura is likely to see steady playing time on the third pairing for the rest of the season, though he's on a one-year contract, so he could be a trade candidate if Seattle continues to drift out of the playoff picture.

Kraken's Josh Mahura: Rare multi-point game
Rotowire
Mahura tallied two assists in a 6-2 win over the Sabres on Saturday.
It was a great night for the third-pairing defender, who came into the game with one assist in 30 appearances. Mahura's only other helper this season came in a win over the Canadiens on Oct. 29. We'd like to tell you that Mahura brought fantasy value in a secondary category, but he has just 44 hits and 23 blocks in 31 games. His last multi-point game came March 16, 2023, when he put up two assists. This was also his third career multi-point contest. He's definitely a guy who helps more on the ice than in the fantasy arena.

Kraken's Josh Mahura: Regains regular role
Rotowire
Mahura played in the Kraken's three games prior to the holiday break.
Mahura exited the lineup once the Kraken got healthy on defense, but the Dec. 18 trade that sent Will Borgen to the Rangers created an opening in the lineup once again. The 26-year-old Mahura has just one assist to go with 19 shots on net, 36 hits, 17 blocked shots and a minus-1 rating over 24 appearances. He has limited scoring upside and doesn't add much more in physicality. However, he should be able to stay in the lineup for a while even if the Kraken call up a blueliner from AHL Coachella Valley to provide extra depth.

Kraken's Josh Mahura: Exits lineup with D at full health
Rotowire
Mahura was a healthy scratch for Saturday's 4-2 loss to the Sharks.
Unless head coach Dan Bylsma has a message to send, it's likely Mahura will be on the outside looking in for a while. Vince Dunn (upper body) returned from long-term injured reserve Saturday, bumping Mahura from the lineup after a run of 18 appearances in 19 games. The 26-year-old Mahura has one assist, 15 shots on net, 21 hits, 12 blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating over 19 appearances. He's unlikely to play unless injuries arise on the Kraken's blue line.

Kraken's Josh Mahura: Records first point
Rotowire
Mahura had an assist, one hit and two PIM in Tuesday's 8-2 win over the Canadiens.
Mahura was the middleman in a pretty tic-tac-toe sequence that resulted in Seattle's final goal. It was the first point in six appearances for Mahura. He's skating on the third pair as a replacement for Vince Dunn (upper body), who is facing a multi-week absence.

Kraken's Josh Mahura: Makes opening roster
Rotowire
Mahura was named to the Kraken's opening roster Monday after passing through waivers over the weekend.
Mahura will begin 2024-25 in the NHL as a seventh defenseman. It would not be surprising to see him shuttled back and forth between the Kraken and AHL Coachella Valley in paper transactions given the NHL club's tight cap situation.

Panthers' Josh Mahura: Logs helper Saturday
Rotowire
Mahura recorded an assist and two hits in Saturday's 4-3 shootout loss to the Rangers.
After leaving the last game in the third period with a lower-body injury, Mahura returned to his regular spot on the first pairing with partner Brandon Montour. Mahura provided the primary assist on the opening goal and finished with two hits, one blocked shot and a plus-1 rating in 16:28 of ice time. In his past five contests, the blueliner has recorded two assists, 10 PIM, eight hits and four blocked shots. His value lies in peripherals like hits, blocks and some penalty minutes. If a league rewards these categories, Mahura could be a decent depth option.

Rotowire
Mahura (lower body) will play Saturday versus the Rangers, Jameson Olive of the Panthers' official site reports.

Panthers' Josh Mahura: Snags helper in Game 2
Rotowire
Mahura notched an assist in Saturday's 2-1 overtime win over the Hurricanes in Game 2.
This was Mahura's second helper in 14 playoff contests. He's often been limited to a third-pairing role, though he logged 29:08 of ice time in a quadruple-overtime Game 1 and another 14:01 in Saturday's contest. Even with a few more minutes, he's unlikely to make much of an impact on offense. The 25-year-old has produced 18 hits, 12 blocked shots and a plus-2 rating.
